Purchased A New Home And Windows Still Bare? 2 Types Of Window Treatments You Can Choose

Posted on: 10 March 2022

If you just purchased a new home and the windows are bare, you have many options with window treatments. To help you make the right choice, below is information about two types of window treatments available to you.

Blinds

There are wood blinds that can be expensive, but they make a home feel welcoming and warm. You can find real wood blinds in a variety of finishes and stains. These blinds work great in almost any room in your home. If you cannot afford wood, there is faux wood which looks like wood but at a much cheaper price. These blinds are easy to clean and will not easily warp, peel, or crack. Faux wood blinds are heavier than wood blinds, however, which can make it more difficult to install them.

There are also mini blinds, which are also called aluminum blinds. You can find these blinds in a variety of colors, and they are lightweight. They are not as expensive as wood or faux wood blinds. When purchasing this type make sure the aluminum is high quality because this means it will be more durable and thicker.

Vertical blinds are available which work best on wide or tall windows. They also work great for sliding doors. These blinds are generally made of vinyl and are not expensive. The blinds are installed on a sliding track that allows you to push the blinds open and closed.

Shades

There are also shades available for your windows. Cellular shades are commonly used and are a honeycomb design with double or triple cells. These blinds offer insulation so they can help maintain the temperature of the room to keep you comfortable. Cellular shades lift easily if you want to have a view out the window. There are some that have cords and others are cordless, which is beneficial if you have children or pets.

Pleated shades look much like cellular shades, but they do not have the honeycomb design. Instead, they have a simple accordion fold when they are raised. You can find these shades in a wide range of colors and decorative fabrics.

Roman shades are made of fabric and look much like draperies. The main difference is you can lift the shade. When the shade is closed it has horizontal, soft folds. You can choose from pleated, hobbled, or flat styles. This is a great choice if you want drapery but cannot afford it as roman shades are less expensive.
